Fragility
The human form is made up of various components, which on a day-to-day basis, bares the marks, to the true extent of just how fragile the human body really is.
Solid as we may appear on the outside the simple fact is our fragility begins with skin, an element that can appear as delicate as paper. Before we even reach the inside of our biological make-up, the exterior is an element, which not only symbolizes scarring, but also physically bares the marks of such occurrences, acting as a war-zone at times, approximating an aftermath, through disease, illness, surgery, war, therapy, or scaring, these elements suggest that the body can unduly appear to be an indestructible element, but in reality a fragile creation.
This work metaphorically emphasizes the above point with the use of specific materials: watercolour paper, Silver Gelatin emulsion, and cotton thread. All these elements are tactile and together bare the marks such in the same way as aftermath does on the body. Thus creating a suspension of the human form and the need and desire to restore the body back to its unaltered state.
